TUF 13 Finale Predictions

How great it is to have two UFC events in successive weekends. After having two events in eight weeks it feels like MMA overload right now. A stacked card at UFC 130 left us with some great fights and there is no doubt that the TUF 13 Finale will excite as well. As I wrote in my article earlier this week, if there is only one fight to see on this card it is Guida vs. Pettis. But anytime a guaranteed UFC contract is on the line it will be hard to look away. One of the greatest fights in MMA history was for a contract;Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar is still talked about as the penultimate fight.

Although there are a lack of big names on the card, I would venture to say that fireworks will be had. Let’s take a look at the predictions for this weekend’s event:

Co-Main Event: Clay Guida vs. Anthony Pettis

Who Will Win: Pettis via Unanimous Decision

Why: Pettis is the next superstar in the Lightweight division. Clay Guida is a good fighter as well, and one of my favorites, but he just seems to lack that certain something that would put him at a championship level. Guida will be a lifetime second tier guy while Pettis will hold UFC gold very soon. It doesn’t really matter who wins because the real winner will be the fans.

TUF 13 Final: Ramsey Nijem vs. Tony Ferguson

Who Will Win: Ramsey Nijem via TKO in Round 3.

Why: I’ll admit that I haven’t watched this season of TUF that closely so I’m just going to go off what the results were from the show and pick Nijem for the simple reason that he has beaten people by KO and submission. I can’t really give you any indication why one fighter is better than the other, but isn’t that why they’re fighting?

Kyle Kingsbury vs. Fabio Maldonado

Who Will Win: Maldonado via KO in Round 2

Why: Maldonado manhandled McSweeney in his UFC debut and I liked what I saw. I expect Fabio to dominate again.

Ed Herman vs. Tim Credeur

Who Will Win: Credeur via UD

Why: I’ve not seen anything that would make me feel like Herman is UFC caliber and Saturday night is the nail in his coffin.

Chuck O’Neill vs. Chris Cope

Who Will Win: Chuck O’ Neill via UD

Why: Once again I don’t know much about these fighters but you can’t go wrong with a guy named Chuck.

Saturday night may bring us one of the best fights of the year in Guida/Pettis and there is no doubt that fireworks will fly in the Finale fight. Let’s enjoy the free event on Spike this weekend and then we’ll turn our attention to the big boys, Carwin vs. JDS next weekend.
