Jen Aniano is the next female fighter to be Outside Da Cage.
Jen recently turned pro after fighting 16 amateur fights. (She NEVER Turned a fight down)
Sam Wilson: Jen, tell us a little about yourself so our readers know who you are:
Jen: I just turned 28 years old and this October will mark 8 years of training and fighting for me in MMA. As a child and young adult I split time between my mom’s in Detroit, Mi. and my Dad’s in Brooklyn, NY. I was born in Brooklyn and I have a crazy Irish-Italian heritage.
Sam Wilson: What do you do outside of fighting?
Jen: I am a teacher at the alternative middle school in Kalamazoo, MI. We don’t have a name for our school, No Joke! My daytime job is a blessing in my eyes. I am responsible for the education of other’s children. I take that seriously and I think I am fortunate to be able to what I do every day. I went to school for five years. I spent a year wrestling and playing soccer in college for Missouri Valley. Eventually I wound up completing my BS in History and Journalism at Eastern Michigan University. I completed a one-year intensive master at the University of Michigan immediately following undergraduate studies. I currently have a M.Ed. with teaching certification. And I trained and fought even through all of that. I guess you could say I have molded my life so that I can fight for as long as my body lets me.
Sam Wilson: Are you married? Do you have children?
Jen: I am not married and I do not intend on having children. I teach them all day so it is nice to do my own thing after work. I do have a boyfriend. He is an awesome teammate and coach and I am thankful for him. His name is Ivan “Psycho Mantis” Wolshlager (that is my shameless plug for him). I have two dogs, Maddie and Fedor. Fedor is a pit bull mix and he has my back. Maddie is a puggle and she is twice as fat as she should be. But I love her anyway. She just sleeps a lot lol.
Sam Wilson: What is your favorite quote?
Jen: “Nothing lasts forever, so live it up, drink it down, laugh it off, avoid the drama, take chances and never have regrets. At one point everything you did was exactly what you wanted.” Marilyn Monroe
Sam Wilson: What are some of your favorites?
Jen: My favorite Movie: Hook, Favorite Book: Harry Potter, and favorite thing to do is, I really love just hanging out and making people laugh. I am a bit of a clown so chilling out with my friends and just laughing is the most awesome thing I can do with the very little down time I have. I also really love playing guitar and singing and you can find me doing karaoke pretty regularly.
Sam Wilson: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Jen: If I could go anywhere in the world I would go backpacking through Europe and Asia for like an entire year. I love history so seeing all of the life people left behind would be life fulfilling for me. That is most certainly a life retirement goal for me.
Sam Wilson: Ok, if you had a secret that the fans did not know about you, what would it be?
Jen: Most fans would not know that I am seriously superstitious and I believe in ghosts. I am actually like borderline weird about my obsession with the ghost reality shows and scary movies. And I am convinced my house, which is well over 100 years old, is haunted. For sure. I also believe if I do something like kill a spider I will be invaded by spiders because I have angered them. So there is the weirdness in me that actually most people do not know about.
Sam Wilson: Jen I look forward to your next pro fight this year!!!
