Early Life:

Tell us a bit about yourself, where did you grow up and what was life like growing up? (Family, school, friends)

I am from Tucson Arizona, but moved to Boulder City when I was five. I then grew up there until I was fifteen then moved to Henderson. I graduated from Foothill High School.

Were you involved in any sports as a youth in or outside of school?

I participated in all the sports when I was little, then wrestled my sophomore year.

What is your favorite child-hood memory?

Not having to worry about anything except hanging out with friends.

Any interesting child-hood stories and/or fun facts?

I once lip synced Eminem’s “The Real Slim Shady” for a talent show when I was seven. I also enjoy producing music and DJing.

Getting involved in MMA:

How did you get involved?

After not being very good at wrestling, I tried a boxing class and it snowballed from there.

What discipline did you begin with and care to share a bit about your early experiences learning the sport(s)?

The discipline that I picked up the fastest was grappling and catch wrestling under Neil Melanson. In my experience learning the sport is that you need to believe in yourself fully.

At what point did you know you were ready to step in the cage for the first time?

As soon as I turned eighteen.

When the cage locked behind you in your first fight, can you recall what went through your mind? How did your first fight turn out?

It was pretty crazy. It was in my gym Xtreme Couture, and it was packed. My adrenaline almost killed me, but it turned out in my favor with a rear naked choke in the third.

What are 3 things you've learned while being involved in this sport?

I’ve learned discipline, patience, and to believe in myself.
