A few questions with Andy “Crasian” Nguyen!

Getting to know Andy Nguyen

Been a fan of Andy's for quite some time, and with the recent introduction of our Q&A; she was more than willing to share with us. Andy is known as the "Asian Persuasian" and the "Crasian", the beautiful fighter is hoping to make her pro debut this year! Keep your eyes peeled!

Early Life:

 

Tell us a bit about yourself, where did you grow up and what was life like growing up? (Family, school, friends)

Andy Nguyen: I was born in Hollywood, lived in Los Angeles until my early teens and mother moved us to South Carolina. Growing up from a big city and moving to small one was a huge adjustment. I mean, I saw the Rodney King riot. There was no childhood growing up. Survive! My mother was a single mother with 4 kids. My father moved out when I was 9 years old.

Were you involved in any sports as a youth in or outside of school?

Andy Nguyen: I was a cheerleader in 4th grade at a private Catholic School, but most athletic in my class when it came to Volleyball, Handball, Softball, and Kickball. (West coast sports lol). I just loved to compete!

What is your favorite child-hood memory?

Andy Nguyen: Seeing my dad

Any interesting child-hood stories and/or fun facts?

Andy Nguyen: Not really… My name is Andy legally, It was suppose to be Sandy lol.

 

Getting involved in MMA:

 

How long ago did you get involved in this sport?

Andy Nguyen: 4 years ago.

What discipline did you begin with and care to share a bit about your early experiences learning the sport(s)?

Andy Nguyen: Boxing and MMA all at once.

At what point did you know you were ready to step in the cage for the first time?

Andy Nguyen: The first day I walked in the gym, I wanted to fight!

When the cage locked behind you in your first fight, can you recall what what through your mind? How did your first fight turn out?

Andy Nguyen: I was so dehydrated and tired my first fight. I won, but it was not technical (lol); more like control and aggression.

What are 3 things you've learned while being involved in this sport?

Andy Nguyen: It's an emotional sport. Learning everyday. Now I cross train everywhere. Good sportsmanship is very important.

What gym are you currently fighting out of?

Andy Nguyen: Fitness Edge MMA & Raja Muay Thai

What is your current record (ammy/pro) and at what weight?

Andy Nguyen: Boxing 5-2, Muay Thai 0-1, and MMA 6-8 all ammy. Pro debut will be this end of year!

Do you currently have a nickname in this sport? If so, what is it and why?

Andy Nguyen: The Asian Persuasion to The Crasian. I have no idea why those were given, but I think it's self explanatory.

If you could improve one aspect of your game, what would it be and why?

Andy Nguyen: Everything. Because it gets tougher after each opponent.

What is your most memorable experience as an MMA fighter?

Andy Nguyen: Winning

Any interesting stories to share or learning experiences whilst fighting you would like to share?

Andy Nguyen: Just having fun over here. smiley

If you could offer one bit of advice to an aspiring fighter what would it be?

Andy Nguyen: Advice? Experience as much as you can as an ammy.

Future:

 

What are your goals for the future in the sport?

Andy Nguyen: Signed a multi fight deal with XFC, so that's where my focus will be when I make my pro debut!

What are your thoughts on the current state of the sport and where it's headed?

Andy Nguyen: ITS GROWING BIG TIME

If you could change one thing in the sport, what would it be?

Andy Nguyen: I WANT RING BOYS…holding my round cards!

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

Andy Nguyen: Teaching MMA to children and/or an MMA promoter.

Andy Nguyen: I have an 11 year old son named Sabastian Miller. … Any more? If I ever fall in love again ….maybe (lol)

Best day of your life:

Andy Nguyen: Can't recall…. It's usually after winning a bout and celebrating with friends.

Interesting/Unknown Fact about yourself:

Andy Nguyen: I hate corn roll looks. I'm scared of roller coasters and horror movies, would rather walk in a cage (and fight).

Favorite Hobbies:

Andy Nguyen: Batting in the cage, modeling, online shopping, and traveling

Who is your favorite super hero and why?

Andy Nguyen: Chun Li. Because she's so cute!
